The Oberwerk 20x80mm Deluxe is new for 2002, and is quite different from the other Oberwerk 50mm-80mm models. It is a large all-metal binocular, with a painted finish, that is meant to be mounted (tripod head or parallelogram). In fact, it's 17" long- but this is partly due to the deep anti-glare/dew shields. There is a substantial built-in mount, so an "L" adapter is not required. The mount also allows balance adjustment. The Oberwerk 20x80 Deluxe provides extraordinary astronomical viewing. The giant 80mm objectives gather a great deal of light, yet contrast is excellent. It's also a great choice for long-range terrestrial observation- especially when viewing under low light conditions. Includes the finest BAK4 prisms, fully coated optics throughout, and high-quality broadband multi-coated objectives. Although this is a high-magnification binocular, it has a relatively long 18mm eye relief, so can be used by those that wear glasses (the winged eyecups snap on/off). Also includes right ocular diopter adjustment, soft rubber ocular and objective covers, and a large rugged nylon case.
